I thought it would be only fitting to select the Green Bay Packers after winning the world championship as the brand which mirrors my ideals. For 2011, no team in the NFL will be featured in more advertisements or commercials as the league presents the best they have to offer. The team from Green Bay is more than just a sports team, a player, or jersey but an integral part of my life. I cannot say that for any brand or say I experience such pride as when I wear Packer apparel. The reasons I hold the green and gold in such high regard goes past winning football games, but who and what they represent. The Green Bay Packers bring a sense of uniqueness, reliability, and honor that other teams fail to offer, ideals I wish to find in my own life.
The Packers unlike any other team is run as a non-for-profit, with stocks held by their very own fans. Even though Packer fans will never see any return on their shares, they still donate their hard earned cash to say what no other average football fan can say, I own a little of my favorite team. Trying to break into the business world, where everyone seems to dress and say the same things, it’s good to see a brand break away from the pack to involve the fans that make the franchise special.
Reliability can seem a little mundane, but a trait I hold in high regard. Life is full of ups and downs; becoming that support for others when they hit that low is important. That is what you’ll find in the idea of the Green Bay Packers. Lambeau field, home of the Packers, has been sold out since 1960, no other team can come close to that. This means win or lose, fans will face freezing temperatures in support of their team. The brand is like a family and through no matter what will always be there for each other.
Honor doesn’t carry the same weight today as in the past, but is still an ideal woven in the fabric of the Green and Gold. Teams around the league are full of drug use, abusive players, and divas, something a blue-collar team as the Packers has no time for. You’ll never see the Packers trade for or pick-up a player with character flaws in hopes their talents may outweigh any baggage they may bring. Though whenever this situation does arise on Packer team, you’ll always find that player cut or traded to team who can look past their indiscretions. Green Bay may not be the most glamorous city, but playing for the Packers is a privilege and honor that must be respected.
My Packer jersey represents more than a Super bowl winning football but a brand that reflects the ideals of their coaches, players, and fans.
